WWR creates a safe space for women to learn to use power tools and to build something they can take home and say, "I made this!"
Women's Workshop Richmond is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Richmond, Indiana. Our goal is to empower women through power tools β in a supportive, judgment-free workshop where every skill level is welcome.
Founded by Shana Nissenbaum β a 3rd grade reading teacher at National Trail Elementary and a Level 2 NCCER certified carpenter through Ivy Tech β WWR teaches women to safely use miter saws, routers, drills, air nailers, and more, while building real projects: raised garden beds, blanket ladders, candy machines, step stools, and pallet pumpkins.
Beyond the workshop, WWR gives back β from building six little free libraries now placed around Richmond to community projects across Wayne County.

Real projects from real workshops β candy machines, raised beds, and the women who built them.
Every workshop ends with "I made this!" β and it rarely stops there.
Jordyn came to a raised garden bed workshop having barely touched a tool. Three hours later, she had a finished bed β and within weeks she'd built a second large planter and a third smaller one, entirely on her own.
An Army veteran, Brandi had a list of DIY projects she never thought she could tackle. After one workshop, she was off β advancing so quickly she may soon help lead future sessions.
